Football star Messi has escaped possible jail
term by paying £4.2m to Spanish authorities
after he was accused in June of filing false tax
returns.
Messi and his father paid the hefty sum as
‘corrective payment’.
He’s scheduled to appear at a hearing on
September 17 but his lawyer has asked for the
date to pushed because his client has an
engagement on that day can’t be shaped.
With this payment it is unlikely that Messi will
face jail time – the World Footballer of the
Year was facing 6 years behind bars before his
payment.
