Aviation minister Stella Oduah currently embroiled in a N255 million automobile purchase scandal said she did not at any point in time request for the said cars.
The minister, who as at the time of filing this report was still answering questions from the House of Representatives committee on
Aviation, said though NCAA has needs for new operational vehicles, she insists the armoured cars were not meant for her but for foreign
dignitaries.
“Nothing in the stated documents mentioned my name. I did not request for any vehicles. All I did was to approve the purchase, subject to the agency doing the needful. NCAA followed due process as required by law.
“The Federal ministry of aviation under my watch has always ensured we act in a prudent
manner and under the ambit of the law” Oduah defended.
Oduah referred to the cars purchased as the “needs” of the NCAA in its quarterly budgeting.
“It is not true, cannot be true that NCAA bought bullet proof vehicles for honourable minister of aviation. My understanding is that.what NCAA has done is to plan for its vehicle needs for the next three years under the Medium Term Expenditure Framework”.
She also took a swipe at numerous online publications saying their allegations were not substantiated but based on the “erroneous”
comment of her aide who initially admitted to the alleged purchase.

The National President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Abdulwaheed Omar has stated
that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) would soon be called off even as advised security agents to
devise new strategies in tackling the security challenges facing the country.
Omar, who spoke in the same vein with Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, at the 10TH Quadrennial Conference of the Nigeria Civil Service Union yesterday in Minna, decried the use of security agents to oppress
people in the nation’s polity. He stated that the NLC, in recognizing that ASUU is an affiliate body, held a meeting with the union on Monday and would present the position to Vice-president Namadi Sambo who is now leading the government’s negotiating team.
The NLC president said: “The ASUU strike is a matter of concern to all of us. ASUU is an affiliate of the NLC; we held a meeting two
days ago to reach an understanding; we are to meet the vice president.”
He explained that the congress was hoping to bring both parties together, saying that “very soon ASUU strike will be history.”
The NLC boss stated that the strike had reached the level it was because government does things with impunity.
“Government signed an agreement and they said it was previous administration; if government can inherit foreign reserves from the previous administration while dodging the agreement reached by the previous administration, government should fulfil its sides of the bargain,” he added.
Omar called on security agents to devise new strategies to check the security challenges facing the country, and decried the way
security agents subject Nigerians to hardships at checkpoints and other places, all in the bid to end the insurgence especially in some parts
of the north.
“We cannot be in bondage unending, security agents should have a plan and engage modern
technology to fight the insurgency and give the people a breathing space,” he stated.
He decried the use of security agents by government to oppress political opponents, citing the happenings in River State and the
closure of Adamawa Governor’s Lodge in Abuja as a pure display of impunity.
“Governance cannot continually be done with perpetual impunity, particularly in a democracy; we must tell ourselves the truth;
we cannot act against the people that put us there”, he said.

Former Lagos State Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu's first daughter, Folashade Tinubu Ojo
was today October 29th installed as the new Iyaloja of Lagos and the President General of the Market Men and Women of Nigeria, taking
over from her late grandmother, Habibat Mogaji, who died in June this year.
The installation took place at the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu 1.
Before her new appointment, Folashade was the Deputy President General of the Market
Men and Women.

This country! So Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, today announced state burial for Patience Jonathan's late foster mum, Mrs. Charity Francis Oba, who died in a car accident in July.
Not only is late 'Mama Sisi' getting a state burial, there are also reports that several Federal Govt ministries, state governments,
and government agencies are throwing large sums of public funds into funding the burial.
Mrs Oba's funeral rites, which will last three days, will start on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Okrika, Rivers state.

Sir Alex Ferguson has defended his
controversial autobiography and insisted he wrote it for Manchester United fans,
Mirror.co.uk reports.
Ferguson has been criticised over some of the dressing-room revelations in his book, as well
as criticisms of players including Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hit back at Ferguson for his literary attack on Gerrard and Henderson, describing the book as not
being “credible”.
But Ferguson, speaking at Salford’s Lowry Theatre in the shadow of Old Trafford, in front of an audience of 1,700 in the first of a
five-venue tour to promote his book, defended the contents of his autobiography.
“I wrote the book for the fans,” said
Ferguson. “To let them understand why I had to make certain decisions, not for the press.
“The book is to make people understand how difficult the (Manchester United) job is. It’s a
massive club, the biggest in the world, and that expectation is always there.”
Ferguson’s opening tour date sold out in just four minutes, beating former Smiths frontman Morrissey in terms of selling out the Lowry in
the fastest time. United boss David Moyes, as well as Old Trafford legends Sir Bobby Charlton and Denis Law, were among the audience. Some of Fergie’s former players, including Brian McClair, were also present, as were past and
present members of the United backroom staff, as well as ex-chief executive David Gill.
In conversation with BBC presenter Dan Walker, Ferguson reflected on his 27 years in charge of United and regaled his compelled
audience, most of whom were United fans, with anecdotes and insight from his time at Old Trafford.
The former United boss, is also speaking in Glasgow, Aberdeen, London and Dublin to promote his book, his second autobiography
after 1999’s Managing My Life.
Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday met with the Academic Staff Union of
Universities in Abuja.
It could not be ascertained if the meeting, which lasted barely one hour, produced desirable results.
The ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, and the minister refused to speak with journalists after the
meeting.
Fagge did not respond to journalists’ questions on the
outcome of the meeting and possible next line of action of the union.
He simply told our correspondent, “I am not in a position to talk.”
At the meeting were the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie; the Vice Chancellor of
the University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole; and a few national officers of.the union.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has protested to the Republic of Hungary over the arbitrary increase of fees for Nigerian students studying in various universities in that.country.
