Kano closes hospital over inadequate personnel

The Kano State government on Sunday announced the closure of a private hospital in the state over a wide range of issues, including the lack of adequate personnel.
Notice of the closure is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Alhaji Isma’il Gwammaja.
The statement quoted the officer as saying that the closure followed a directive to that effect from the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Private Health
Institutions, Dr Salisu Ibrahim.
The hospital, Al-farma Ultra-Modern Hospital and Diagnosis Orthopaedic, the statement added, had its services suspended due to
inadequate facilities and manpower.
It quoted Ibrahim as saying that a visit by an inspection team found the hospital in a deplorable state and suffered acute shortage of personnel.
Ibrahim said that the team, during the visit, found only two nurses on duty in spite of the large number of patients waiting to be attended to.
He said the hospital was also in a poor sanitary condition and congested, a development which he said could lead to spread of diseases.
He appealed to proprietors of private hospitals in the state to always prioritise the comfort and safety of their clients.
