Newly Opened Facilities Will Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply - Power MinisterNebo

The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo has assured Nigerians that the newly commissioned Dei Dei Injection Sub-station constructed by the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) will add value, especially to the distribution side of the electricity value-chain.

While speaking during the inauguration of the distribution sub-station facility at Dei Dei - Jiwa in the Bwari/AMAC Area Councils on Wednesday December 4, 2013, the Minister indicated that with the facility, the quality of power supply would be enhanced; assuring the people that the days of candle lighting in the community are over.

"The Lot 2 Injection Sub-station, he said will provide un-interrupted power in Jiwa, Gwagwa, Zauda, Dei-Dei, Saburi and other villages in the area. Adding, the people ought to guard the facility by ensuring that no power installation vandal has access to the area, as the facility is for their own benefit as well as economic wellbeing. On the part of the Government, the Minister disclosed that efforts will be made to spread such infrastructure to many parts of the country. He reiterated the commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan to providing all Nigerians with electricity in the cities and rural areas. "The President is determined to leverage on power to transform the nation's rural economy to a modern and sustainable one," he said. For the magnanimity of providing land free of charge for the construction of the project, the Minister commended the Emir of Jiwa, Idris Musa and urged the royal father to assist Government in ensuring round the clock protection of the sub-station from theft and vandalism. Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Philip Aduda pledged the continued support of the legislature for power projects. He assured that as the representative of the people in the FCT, he will continue to support the power sector because of its positive impact on the socio-economic lives of the people. Philip Aduda commended the efforts of the Federal Government under the able leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan for the commissioning of diverse power projects. "Yesterday we were at Apo. Today we are here in Jiwa. We will soon be proceeding to Diko in Niger State for another commissioning," he averred.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Jiwa, Idris Musa thanked Mr. President for approving the localion of the project in his domain. He promised on behalf of his community to support the Transformation Agenda for the power sector. He also assured that his people will co-operate with the new owners of Abuja Disco for them to be better served.
