Remorseful thief returns money to store he robbed 12 years ago

A former drug addict who robbed a grocery
store over a decade ago has asked for
forgiveness after returning the money he stole,
along with an apology note.
Keosavanh Xayarath was threatened at gunpoint
by the mystery man at his store in Nashville,
Tennessee, around 11 years ago.
The remorseful criminal returned to the scene
of his crime earlier this month to give back the
$400 (£250), along with an apology note
explaining his actions.
“He was really insistent that we take this, that
we had to take this,” the store owner’s son,
Somboon Wu, told WSMV.
The note, simply addressed to owner,
explained: “I do not use drugs anymore, and I
feel I must make amends to the people I have
hurt in the past.”
“I hope you will accept this money and find
forgiveness. Peace be with you, Anonymous.”
InterAsian Market & Deli posted a picture of
the letter on its Instagram page where it has
received a positive response.
“This is truly inspirational and reminds us that
there are plenty of good people in this world,”
said the store in a statement.
“To the anonymous person, we want to tell you
that you are forgiven and thanks for your
note. We don’t care about the money.
“We are more inspired and touched by your
act. We hope you find peace in life and
prosperity. Best wishes!”
