DJ in trouble for stealing Blackberry, shoes in brothel

The desire by one Abiola Ipadeola to seek fun at a popular brothel located at Ajibade Street,
Osogbo, capital of Osun State, after the close of work has landed him in trouble.
Ipadeola was beaten black and blue on September 6, at about 10.30p.m. and dispossessed of his belongings including his
Blackberry phone, shoes and N30,000.
The Disc Jockey, Akintokun Tunde usually hired
by the owner of the popular brothel and some
of his friends now at large perpetrated the act.
But Tunde, however, ran out of luck as he was
arrested and arraigned before an Osogbo
Magistrate Court for alleged stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akinlabi
Ismail, told the court that the accused and
others assaulted Ipadeola by punching him in
his eyes while drinking beer at the hotel and
dispossessed him of his Blackberry phone,
shoes and N30,000.
Ismail informed the court that aside from
N30,000 allegedly stolen by the accused, the
Blackberry was valued #40,000 while the shoes
valued #10,000.
The charge sheet reads in part: “That you
(Tunde) and others now at large on September
6, 2013 at Angle 90 Hotel at Ajibade Street,
Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial District did
conspire together to commit felony to wit
assault occasioning harm and stealing the sum
of #30,000, one Blackberry handset and
canvass shoes belonging to one Abiola
Ipadeola.”
The prosecutor, who told the court that the
victim sustained injury on his eyelid as a result
of the assault averred that Tunde had
committed offences contrary to and punishable
under Sections 516, 355 and 390 (9) of the
Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun
State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the three
count charges preferred against him and his
counsel, Mr. Olayinka Yusuff prayed the court
to admit Tunde to bail saying that he will not
abuse the privilege if granted.
Presiding Magistrate Olusola Aluko committed
the accused to bail for the sum of #50,000
with two sureties in the same amount. He then
adjourned the case till October 17, for
mention. But Tunde was not lucky as he could
not meet his bail conditions. The prosecutor
consequently took the accused to the police
custody.
